Interactive Theatre. Spatial Audio. Mixed Reality…

I am an audiovisual artist, director and producer. I’ve been writing and creating interactive, multisensory experiences for almost 20 years. My work uses theatre, interactive theatre, spatial audio, mixed reality and projection. You can find it in galleries, public toilets and the houses of parliament. I love to collaborate, and to make work for dinner parties, promotional events and funerals...

Tech Paper Scissors

My new project Tech Paper Scissors provides concept, content and access consultancy for creatives, technologists and visionary organisations. If you wish to build an immersive experience, make your work more inclusive and diversify your communities and audiences then say hello!

Access should never be an afterthought.

Start With a Story. Choose a Platform. Take a Risk.

I am driven by a desire to explore the loving and awkward, filthy and kind, painful and pleasurable components of human connection, both fictional and non fictional.

In 2023 I began collaborating with women who have been diagnosed with terminal illness. Prompted by a conversation about age and expectations we began to explore pleasure. We have found it in food, vibrators, clothes, sex workers, walks, pornography, films and events.

In My Shoes is an ever expanding library of over 130 first-person, documentary style interactive performances, which use story, touch, taste and smell to guide participants through the beautiful, the challenging, the mundane and the surreal aspects of being human, it is a fusion of documentary, education and theatre.

“The In My Shoes Project has the ability to really touch home and change the way physicians think and the way they care for their patients.” Chris Benecchi, Practical Neurology

“A Fascinating Piece About Human Connection… A Remarkably Enlightening Experiment... Intimacy has some important reminders behind it about human connection, and the ways in which you discover them are some of the most unique and interesting I’ve yet seen in VR...Intimacy gives you a virtual mask to hide under, an identity to assume, and then lets you take it all off and sit and have an honest conversation about what you thought about your other costumed accomplice, and the results will surprise you”

Jamie Feltham, Upload VR

“After shows, audience members will frequently come to her and ask endless questions about her, then proceed to tell her all about themselves, as if they need to share who they are. I can understand the impulse”.

Research

My work has been used as a research example when it comes to effective first person perspective immersive experience and in a wider immersive theatre context:

Magnetic Labs (R&D)

In 2024 I co-founded Magnetc Labs with Siobhan McDonnell. Our project Quip is a collaboration with AI specialists (UWE) and neuroscientists (UCL) who specialise in humour and a team of developers. We worked on building a unique tech framework for crafting comedy in immersive Films, Games and Location Based Experiences (LBE). Quip uses voice recognition, micro expression detection and sentiment analysis to influence the virtual world. It increases immersion, accessibility & audience impact. It also informs important and meaningful audience research. Quip was selected by the CoStar Ideate programme in 2025.
